They must not show any signs of wear or dirt and be in the condition they left the manufacturer in. If you discover defective workmanship, the boots must be returned to the manufacturer for replacement. Please do not use the shoe box as the return shipment parcel, pack it in another box so that the next customer can have a positive experience with their products. For years small units and agencies have worn Arc’teryx garments for physical fitness training.

Durable, compact, supple and light, the AR-385a elevates performance, comfort and versatility. The AR-395a is the most expensive and heavily featured in Arc’teryx’s selection of three harnesses. It features a wide waist and leg loop design with literally no padding at all, diffusing pressure using Arc’teryx’s Warp Strength Technology.

We used this harness while backcountry skiing to see if it got in the way – it didn’t. Pick up the Arc’teryx AR-395a if you want a harness that you’ll love hanging and climbing in. The gear loops are easy to use and super adjustable since you can reverse the rigid plastic if you like.

Once you get past the steep price tag, the AR-395a is a true all-around contender offering high performance across all our metrics. If you love to climb everything in sight, this harness will take you there. If this was the only harness in our closet, we wouldn’t complain one bit. Considering the fact that many other harnesses in this review are a fraction of the price and can certainly be used anywhere this harness can be used, the AR-395a is a terrible value. Then again, a Toyota Camry is a great value with better gas mileage and a much cheaper price tag than a Ferrari. Both cars have airbags and are street safe, but wouldn’t you rather have the Ferrari if money wasn’t an option?

The protective plastic is removable, revealing a thin strip of nylon, allowing users to tailor fit the gear loops for the function you want. Remove the plastic for slim-lined, lightweight alpine climbing missions or to make it more comfortable for carrying a pack. If you do take them off, be forewarned that they can be tricky to get back on.

The buckles operate smoothly and allowed for easily snugging up the harness. Despite plenty of climbing and hanging in the AR-395a there was no slippage observed during use. Releasing the buckles also proved smooth with easy one-handed operation on the contoured and friendly buckles. The Arc’teryx AR-395a was one of the most comfortable harnesses for belaying and standing around at the crag.

Most of the people we know who own this harness rave about it, but we have the privilege of wearing all of the best harnesses you can buy, and simply don’t find this to be the best one. The AR-395a has four wide gear loops that will carry ample gear for sport or trad climbing and feature contoured plastic to aid in organizing gear on your harness and accessing it. The loops protrude a small amount to make access easier but lay pretty flat compared to others tested, making them a little harder to clip gear into.

Overall, the AR-395a is by far the lowest profile harness we tested. An advantage of this design is that this harness is so thin that it disappears from thought as you’re crushing your latest project. It is one of the most versatile harnesses we reviewed and excelled at everything except super extended periods of hanging. Every person I know that used the Arc’teryx AR-395a loved it. Combine this with great versatility and features, and we couldn’t help but choose it our top pick as the best climbing harness the money can buy. While it isn’t as padded as other harnesses, the AR-395a makes up for it with its “Warp Strength” design, which evenly disperses the load across the whole harness.

Buy two different harnesses if you want an even more versatile harness quiver at a cheaper price. This is a fantastic do-it-all harness that requires little to no compromise. We wouldn’t hesitate to use this harnesses for done-in-a-day alpine ascents, multi-pitch climbs, sport climbing, single pitch cragging, or training at the gym. Arc’teryx seems to have addressed these two issues with the new AR-395a.

However, it has its limitations and the AR-395a can get uncomfortable during extended hang sessions or when trying to carry a lot of climbing hardware on the gear loops. Overall, the AR-395a was considered one of the most comfortable harnesses tested. Outside of those construction features, ice climbers will love the four ice clipper attachment points that give plenty of options for carrying a large rack of screws. You climb to go beyond limits, discover new places, and experience different environments. Designed just for women, the AR-385a Harness delivers elite performance across the climbing’s entire spectrum – rock, ice, trad, sport, alpine and mixed. Adjustable leg loops create a precise fit, our Warp Strength Technology™ comfortably distributes weight across the swami, and softer edges eliminate cutting and binding.

In the Women’s Climbing Harness Review, the women’s version of this harness received a hanging comfort score of 5/10 with the chief complaint focused on pinching of the leg loops. Of all the guys who climbed in this harness and hung in it, only one complained of leg loop pinching. We chalk this discrepancy to the differences in men’s and women’s body types. A similar thing can be seen when comparing the Petzl Sama with the Luna (women’s version).

Our male testers found the Sama pretty comfortable while the Luna wasn’t suited to a women’s physique. The Arc’teryx AR-395a harness excels at pretty much everything. A more padded harness is probably better for extended hanging, but for general use and the occasional hanging belay, this harness performed admirably. This is the highest scoring harness in the review making it a true all-around contender and the clear winner of our best climbing harness review. Whether you climb with draws, a rack, screws, or an auto belay at the gym, this harness is a great pick if you’re willing to pay the price. Also, you’d have an extra harness to loan out to take a friend climbing.

This is the harness where versatility, comfort and performance converge. We feel that this is a pretty comfortable harness for standing around and walking in, although it is by no means light and featherweight on our body. As a very wide harness, it is indeed a noticeable presence against the body, but not in an annoying way.
