But one show that had more episodes any of the shows the Krofft brothers produced was Land of the Lost. Whereas the majority of their shows lasted 17 episodes or a little more, Land of the Lost ran for 43 episodes and spawned a revival in the 90s and a movie with Will Ferrell. The downward trend continued into the third season, which saw something of a cast change. Spencer Milligan more or less left the show, so the character of Rick was written off as being sent back home. Unfortunately this left Holly and Will to fend for themselves, but along comes their uncle Jack and the show is presented with a trio of adventurers yet again. This shakeup in cast doesn’t necessarily hurt the show, but I will say that Ron doesn’t bring a lot of energy to the role.

They often fought against not only the Marshall family, but also against a less advanced hominid species, which dwelled in caves, called Pakuni. While Land of the Lost is geared towards children, it may not be suitable for all ages. Some younger children may find the Sleestak to be a bit scary, although the special effects and costuming are primitive compared to shows produced today.
On October 13, 2009, Universal released the three seasons individually; the DVDs are identical to Universal’s Complete Series Boxes. (However, the Region 4 version of the 2009 box set does include the commentaries and interviews, but not the look at the Ferrell film.) The series is also available in digital media format.
