Not sure what area is like with snow, but great in warmer weather. With 256 state parks, Oregon has one of the most robust state park systems in the United States. While not all of these locations have camping available, 58 of the parks offer it, so you certainly have options when it comes to camping in Oregon.

Situated in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area near both the ocean and Winchester Bay, the campground at Umpqua offers a unique camping experience. There really is no reason to leave the campground but if you do decide to venture out, Cape Perpetua is only 6 miles away. This area is great for tide pooling and taking a whale-watching trip. Just a few miles north, crabbing, clamming and shrimping are popular in the Alsea Bay and River. Access to the beach, whale watching in the winter months and hiking adventures are great reasons to stay here. The campground has 65 full hookup sites and 25 sites with electric and water. Flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station are all located on site. There are 53 sites with water and electric at the campground along with flush toilets and hot showers. Whether you want a quick walk down to the beach or a 3-mile hike to the summit of Humbug Mountain, this park has you covered.

You can also visit the Coquille River Lighthouse, which is open from mid-May through September.

The nearest restaurants, grocery shopping, and services are available in Brookings, less than 2 miles south of Harris Beach State Park. There is a paved road from the campground down to the day use area at the ocean’s edge.
