Here’s everything you need to know about Never Summer Proto Type Two Review. Find all the information it in this article.

I was pretty excited about the proto 2 having read a lot of positive reviews online. I used to read this blog all the time and still have my OG angry stickers from you from all those years ago. So coming back from a long hiatus I knew I had to check what you had to say about NS….

How to Choose a Snowboard – All-Mountain Advice “C2-banana rocker.. what?”. Only one thing I feel this board lacks of is the jump side….. I think a full cambered board normally does much better jumping than this board but again, this board does good at jumping. All in all the Ripsaw Camber profile and the Asymmetrical sidecut make for a much better all around ride than the Proto. I’m glad the Never Summer Type Two came out this year because this would have been the last year that the Proto would have been a favorite. You can ride this board fast or slow and it will respond to what you’re trying to do.

With little effort, it turns a good rider into a much better one. It butters easy, it is stable at speed, it jumps and jibs well, isn’t very good in powder but I’ve ridden worse and did I mention this thing carves like a dream. The resort basically had to kick me out because I would have stayed on it all night.

I ride mostly east coast groomers with the seasonal trip out west. Ive had the same directional twin for the last ten years and loved it but I wanted to add more freestyle and switch to my riding. I wanted to have one board to fit my style and I found it. I bought a 157 PT2, paired it with Burton Cartels and Adidas Response boots. I rode it for the first time last weekend and I could not be happier.

Expert Reviews Of Never Summer Proto Type Two

I’ll give it a few more days to really get to the know board. I felt like this board could do everything that my greats could but better. The greats was my favorite board of the 15 or so boards I’ve owned in 2.5 seasons. Overall, the Proto Type Two is a versatile board that can rip freestyle over the whole mountain – and can lay down a nice carve, when you’re not finding side hits or doing park laps.

This is a performance-oriented board that gets better the harder that you ride it. I didn’t find it to be particularly nimble when riding very slow, not surprising with the flex, but the harder you ride the more you will get from the Protosynthesis. I also found the Protosynthesis to be sound when I rode through chopped terrain. It’s stable enough to charge through varied conditions.

The Ripsaw profile has the same feel as the original Rocker Camber design, but has more aggresssive camber sections, so you get better edge hold and more pop. In addition to not being a powder-specific board, I also wouldn’t call the Never Summer Proto Type Two a beginner’s stick. For a solid board, the Never Summer Proto Type Two is the perfect blend of tried and true camber for stability and the effortless float found in rockered boards.

This also decreases the nose plowing effect, thus increasing the glide and float in deep snow. The collection of powder and other snow types is a common problem in snowboarding that boards such as this one help you avoid. The turn finish is spring-like and accelerated our testers across the slope. It performed long radius turns comfortably but it is not the main edging style of this board. The Travis Rice Pointy Pro is a solid choice for that style of movement.

Never Summer Proto Type Two Stats:

Our STS Pre-Tensioned Fiberglass is an advanced, pre-hardened, pre-tensioned, layered laminate that has added elastomer stringers, between the 9 degree and 0 degree glasss fibers . This produces a stronger bond between the individual glass laminates giving our snowboards unmatched strength, edge hold and performance. Asymmetrical and progressively shaped, with a deeper heelside than topside cut, the women’s Never Summer Proto Type Two rides like a fucking champ. I’ve been bombing a lot on the very hard conditions this year and had this board over 50 mph. It’s stiff enough to handle that, but not too stiff to be a little playful.

Overall the Proto Type Two is a very good all round board. It felt very stable at high speed, but it still has enough flex that you can press and butter without a huge amount of effort. The snow on the day I rode the Proto was a combination of soft and very hardpacked groomers, with firm snow in the trees.

Never Summer Proto Type 2 2016

Classic Never Summer edges burrowing into the slope for a great hold on fast low carves, this is bolstered by the noticeably accentuated contact points on the toe side. Riding this board in powder and through trees was a lot of fun, it’s nimble and quick edge to edge. Turns are really easy to initiate when the trees get tight, and just as you’ expect in pow it floats really well. This will surely help you when going through uneven terrain at your local mountain. We took the Proto into some really tight and steep trees at Big Sky, plus moguled runs too. With an asym profile the heel sidecut is deeper than the toe sidecut.

It even got Steph to start liking hybrid rocker profiles which I thought would be impossible to do. No clue… You on the east coast 🙂 Check the video for how this did on groomers. Mike Hardaker grew up surfing and snowboarding in Orange County and followed his love of surfing to Hawaii before eventually moving to the mountains to concentrate on snowboarding. He went on to found Mountain Weekly News based in Jackson, Wyoming. The Never Summer Proto Type Two ($589.99) will sell out if you snowboard you really ought to consider adding this board to your quiver. Or better yet get rid of most of your other boards as this tech combines everything I love about snowboarding into a nice neat looking package.

That helped me to log a lot more vert on the Proto than I do on my other boards. Never Summer Proto Type Two 2020Never Summer’s Proto Type Two is a versatile all-mountain snowboard that can be used for any terrain. The board is made of a lightweight, durable, and responsive wood core with a bamboo and fiberglass top sheet. The board has a directional shape that allows for easy turning and maneuvering through the mountains. The board also comes in four different lengths to accommodate different riders. The Proto Type Two now boasts the enhanced flavour of NS’ rocker/camber combo, with pronounced camber sections under the feet that grip the hard pack even more than ever.

Why Steer Clear Of This Board

When you look between your feet and the Proto you can feel at ease when popping and landing. If you love jumps, spins, hitting natural features, playing with ground tricks and riding switch, but like to carve hard in between, then the Proto Type Two is one of the best boards out there to do it. You could really feel the asymmetrical sidecut as you put in heelside turns, just making the whole process a bit smoother. I like the fact that it was really quick from edge to edge, and this paired with the asym left you putting in mega carves with very little effort.

The twin shape is asymmetrical and enhances switch riding and control of the heel edge. Offered in the lengths of 152cm, 154cm, 157cm, and 160cm, the Proto Type Two is one of the most incredible boards for advanced and expert snowboard riders. The enhanced features and capabilities give it the style of a fun, yet serious board for both tough and easy terrains. It is capable of incredible speeds, tricks, and pops that will astound you and have you coming back for more. The speed is what online customers are excited about the most because it is so unexpected in all types of snow. Certain all mountain boards have an aggressive and charger persona that sets a skill level threshold to be able to ride the board to its fullest extent.

This perforation decreases weight in the middle of the board and soaks up the vibrations of the feet, giving a buffer in the rocker region. This Never Summer board is super-fast, has excellent carving ability, and great flexibility. You will experience lots of pop and smooth stability on this well-balanced board. This is a tough board that can take plenty of punishment from the terrain and the user and still remains in pristine condition for years to come. Part of its flexibility also lies in the many different terrains that it can be used also.

The Women’s Never Summer Proto Type Two was on the softer side of mid-flex, both lengthwise and torsionally. For women familiar with the Never Summer line, the Proto Type Two was a step softer than the Never Summer Infinity. Not enough to lose performance and stability, but enough to it make easier to butter and press or twist with a lift of the toes.
