An orphaned brontosaurus teams up with other young dinosaurs in order to reunite with their families in a valley. The Land Before Time works by evoking the simple virtues of this art aimed at children, as it was in the beginning when Disney animated Mickey Mouse. This film deserves a place next to the often-revived animated classics.
But this time, they aren’t the smallest dinosaurs in the valley…anymore. Animated adventure about an orphaned dinosaur named Littlefoot who meets four other dinosaurs while on a trek to find food and water. Littlefoot/Gabriel – The main protagonist of the series, Littlefoot was once a very cheery, carefree, yet easygoing child. But after his mother was killed, he became irritable, angry, and full of hate. But most of all, hate for anyone who even looks at his friends the wrong way.
There aren’t any time for songs, which is a plus, as Bluth gets in more time for some very realistic- for what is available at the time- animation of the environment. The kiddie dinosaurs themselves, Littlefoot the main protagonist , Cera, Petrie, Ducky and Spike, each have their own personalities ranging from heroic to goofy to scared and even stuck-up. This gives something that kids can hang on to, very simple characterizations that change only through the often used but not too tiresome ideal of friendship and group-work, etc etc.

Littlefoot denies that Doc is responsible, and goes off on his own to save everyone from the bad luck by getting a new tooth from the dead Allosaurus. And after briefly escaping it, he is attacked by another one. A large longneck named Doc appears in the valley, and Littlefoot believes him to be the Lone Dinosaur of legend. Later, Littlefoot and his friends are attacked by a sharptooth, and accidentally break off one of the stone teeth of Saurus Rock when searching for Cera’s niece and nephew, who cause trouble for Cera. They are also attacked by the sharptooth again, and it seemingly dies trying to eat them. Swarming Leaf Gobblers appear and eat all of the green food in the Great Valley, forcing the herds to leave.

The Daleks project their power mainly through the use of humans converted into cyborgs, often using various codenames such as “Sharptooth”, “Dil”, and “Red Claw”. Land stars Robin Wright as a grieving woman who decides to give up all her attachments to the world and live by herself in a remote cabin in the wilderness. She struggles to survive the harsh winter until she is helped by a local hunter named Miguel, played by Demián Bichir. The script was written by Jesse Chatham and Erin Dignam, and is Wright’s directorial debut. Have you ever wanted to just throw away your cellphone, delete your email, quit everything, and go live in a remote cabin in the woods? Well, Robin Wright lives out that fantasy in her new movie, Land, but it’s not exactly the best of times.
But a surprise is in store for Littlefoot once he reaches their destination – he has a father. Meanwhile, the others meet an old longneck named Pat, and when they find Littlefoot, they accidentally bring a lot of sharpteeth with them… Some of these scenes, the sillier ones, do end up making it more of a movie that holds more for the kids than the adults. The Tyrannasorus Rex- Sharptooth- is an immensely imposing presence with it saying never a word, as if it was pulled right out of the sequence from Fantasia. The design of the film is also extremely well laid, in a kind of dying world that like all fairy tales becomes all the more compelling in relation to what is the final paradise-type goal.

It could almost be said that it might be much for wee little ones could take, but it really wasn’t as I remember it from first seeing it. It balances its look with its characters, making it a near-classic film of its time. She is very good with her fists, and also knows how to work a blaster. Cera is very protective of her little sister, Tricia, and will personally beat up anyone who tries to harm her. I guess they decided to stop at 13 with the direct-to-video sequels when the TV series started.
