He’d then stepped into his old shoes at the district attorney’s office, prosecuted two cases, and walked away. He’d won both cases but they were both on appeal. Some smart-ass defense attorney would come up with some frigging loophole, and the bad guys would be right back out on the street. CHAPTER 1Jack Emery propped his chin on his cupped hands and looked out the window of the Bagel Emporium at the blustery weather outside.
Fern Michaels does an amazing job of creating strong characters and giving them powerful motivations. This book picks up where book 1 in the series left off; the men are still determined to stop a ruthless slumlord. Not everyone is onboard with their extracurricular activities, with some of the Sisterhood women raising objections. The Sisterhood series drove them to bond and relate over their unique challenges, and now they cannot wait to participate in the vigilante life.
“Root canal. Jack had already canceled it twice, and the doctor told him no more, and the tooth was bothering him. Jack said he called to clear it with you.” “Fetch me the tennis ball. When you bring it to me, drop it into my hand.” It was all said in Greek. Cyrus rose to his feet, all 160 magnificent pounds of pure dog. He dropped the ball into his hands, offered up another yip, and smacked his paw into the doctor’s open palm.

Espinosa turned on the engine, then called the team. After he ended the last call, to Abner Tookus, he put the truck in gear and headed down the road. “Okay, listen up, everyone. This is what we’re going to do.” Espinosa spoke directly at Cyrus, whom he knew would understand.
The name conjured up all kinds of weird images and possible scenarios. In a shopping bag at his feet, he had a bottle of champagne, crystal wine flutes, and a jug of tea for Harry so they could christen their new business in—he looked down at his watch—ten more minutes. Next to the shopping bag was Cyrus, a huge, sleek, 140-pound black German shepherd, who was his new best friend forever. Cyrus was two years old and, as far as Jack was concerned, half human and half dog. Cyrus was so in tune with Jack, he knew what Jack was going to do before Jack knew himself. I just want to thank everyone for visiting the site.
Isabelle Flanders is another victim of injustice. She was framed by a colleague for drunk and driving and killing three people. Before that, Isabelle had everything to lead a peaceful life. The colleague stole it all from her and destroyed her career. She even lost her fiance and was totally devastated.
Distraught, Yoko is about to rush down the mountain to Harry’s aid when the Sisters intercept her. Their most recent mission promised to reward them with a presidential pardon and a chance to leave their enforced exile. But before they can enjoy their prize, they’ll have to tackle a risky new mission in the heart of Sin City. Through all their adventures, the bond of the Sisterhood has remained steadfast and unshakeable.
Jack wants to get something accomplished by doing this and as suspected, there’s something in it for him. Double Down is the debut novel of the Men of the Sisterhood series by Fern Michaels. The Sisterhood has always had significant others that they loved to death. After years of sticking with and standing by their ladies, the boyfriends and husbands of the group have formed their own bonds and become great friends. Fern went on to write dozens of books, many of them that made it to the best sellers’ list of The New York Times.
He looked around at the group, and announced, “If the door is closed, do not open until you knock and I say you can come in.” Heads bobbed up and down. “Let’s do it!” Jack said as he picked up his feet and raced to the back alley behind the newly remodeled property, where the guys were waiting for them. It was a ritual that had to be observed, or Cyrus would bark relentlessly until the others made it happen.
But amid the friendly bickering about floral arrangements, cake tiers, and wedding favors, the ladies of Pinewood receive a frantic phone call from Nikki’s fiancé, Jack Emery. Harry Wong–Yoko’s true love and a staunch supporter of the Sisterhood–has become the victim of a ruthless identity theft ring. Harry’s bank accounts have been closed out, his beloved dojo is being foreclosed, and he’s being evicted.

But in order to protect and avenge the victims, the team must use more cunning than ever before. With so many vulnerable young lives at stake, one mistake would be too many . Linwood BarclayLoved by Harlan Coben readers, an incredible mystery and thriller author.
No treat, however; Dr. Pappas was stingy with his treats, and Cyrus knew it. It’s been a year and a half since the women of the Sisterhood received their presidential pardons, but the freedom they craved has come at a high price.
