Thomas and Bea are now married and living with Peter and his rabbit family. Very cleverly produced, cinematically clever, but Beatrix Potter must be turning in her grave! If you forget it is supposed to be based on her characters, it is quite entertaining, but in every other aspect I personally found it very disappointing. I love the Potter stories and paintings as they are so typically English, this film is an Americanised version of her stories, in my humble opinion.

The basic problem I have is the curious lack of morality in the film. An old man trying to grow veg and defend his garden from pests is beset by a deranged artist and her pet rabbits that talk and plot mischief. The old man is driven to a fatal heart attack by the rabbits’ continuous assaults on his patch but the rabbits subsequently feel no remorse and in fact celebrate his demise by trashing his house after the body is removed. They then give his nephew who inherits the house the same treatment and end up causing structural damage to the lady’s house and destroying their blossoming relationship.
He misses his late father and desperately wants to grow up to be just like him. Armed with his father’s journal, which is basically a guide to everything one needs to become a truly wild rabbit, and aided and abetted by his two best friends, Benjamin and Lily, Peter sets off to make his own mark in life.
