He’s a blue-collar mark-one mod-zero Guy, a man who lives in quiet dignity and who wants nothing more than to love and care for his family for the rest of his life. It’s a powerful, simple film, and while the Lovings earned their happy ending, the fact that we are still fighting for basic racial dignity and respect is shameful. “Life of Brian” is a deliciously sacrilegious satire, the sort of movie that still makes the right people mad as hell.

Trippy and deeply symbolic, it’s a Netflix movie that people are going to be talking about for years. David Mackenzie’s 2016 modern Western is feeling more and more like a definitive film of the last decade. The filmmaker, a semi-pro cyclist, embarks on a hardcore doping regimen to demonstrate the flaws in the drugs-testing process. Paul Thomas Anderson’s masterful American epic is stark and relentless; the first we see of protagonist Daniel Plainview is a 20-minute sequence in which Daniel Day-Lewis scrabbles wordlessly in the dirt for silver. Some things, like the infamous rivalry, are overplayed, and the central event of the film is amped up for thematic effect. That would be Lauda’s horrific 1976 crash on the Nurburgring track, of course, a life-changing attack of irony for a man who attempted to boycott the track because of dangerous conditions. The nuts and bolts of F1 racing may be lost on some members of the audience, but Hunt and Lauda’s charisma makes “Rush” a fine flick for nearly anyone.

When her husband finds her fantasy writing, instead of getting angry, he decides to use it as an instruction manual to spice up their sex life. As you’ve probably guessed, it’s rated R, so maybe don’t watch it with your mom. The long-awaited season of the cult-favorite time loop series is back April 20.

In between the jabs and the pointed commentary on irrelevant internecine strife are some intensely funny, utterly iconic sequences. One does not make it out of the infamous Pontius Pilate scene with a straight face — God knows the guys playing Pilate’s guards couldn’t.
