I felt it may be helpful to show where to turn. On 3a, before crossing through the cattle gates, there is a dirt road on your left. You will see a sign that says Elkhorn Loop, Picnic area, and overlook. Take this road and you will find you can drive around the gorge, picnic, and see the beauty. We were in a truck and had no problem parking in the areas provided.
