Here’s everything you need to know about One Piece Vs Two Piece Fishing Rod. Find all the information it in this article.

If you are fly tier you can add tying supplies- hooks, thread, feathers, beads, various animal hides and hairs, plastic tinsel, etc…. OCD sure makes this a whole lot harder…. The line broke as I was making the cast, and the rod tip flew off… All I could do was watch as it slowly sunk.

I prefer fishing with one-piece rods because they are more sensative to fish bites. On the other hand, you cannot take them a part for storage in small spaces. Also, I do not like to fish with two-piece rods because I constantly have to line up the eyes of both pieces. I like the two piece so I can transport it and store it easier. Modern two piece rods fit and funtion nicely. One piece rods are for folks that keep their tackle in the boat and do not need to transport them in and out of car/house/boat or shoreline and then back, 2 piece is for travelers.

Vs 2 Piece Rods

Yes it has to be taken down with an extra tool. No, it has never once loosened on it’s own or come apart . The FLGR’s came about from competition shooting in that the slide cycles smoother and it adds just a bit of extra weight on the front end for recoil (faster shot follow-up). In real life, I have never noticed or seen this and you would probably have to be an expert to truly notice any difference between it and a GI setup. Does a 2 piece rod have a better or worse action than a 3 piece rod. I think there is a bit of fishing snob in all of us today that has to have the latest and greatest.

I have a couple with FLGRs but prefer otherwise. People can talk about how they are not any more difficult to field strip than a GI setup but that’s not always true. At best, you have to use a bushing wrench on a one piece FLGR. The shipping is higher if you order one piece rods.

Re: One Piece Rod Made Into A 2 Piece

I had a decent TICA 8′ rod and no matter how much I tried to keep the pieces aligned, the guides from each of the pieces would have to be adjusted back to straight. The force of casting will cause issues if you really load up the rod. I have had several one piece spinning rods in the past and they are fine, but I really don’t think there was that much of a difference in the sensitivity of them and my two piece rods. I will say, they were not the high end St. Croix rods. To avoid the hassle, many traveling anglers will carry four-piece fly rods in a rod tube that is inside their main travel duffle. I have a G.Loomis roller duffle that has the rod tubes built in.

I probably couldn’t tell the difference blindfolded. With a light rod, like a 3-weight fly rod, I think I probably could. Companys went 2 pc for shipping and manufacturing, it is $$ to ship one piece rods…… I would like to add this here that all of my trolling rods are two piece but my spinning rods as well as bait casters are one piece.

Fishing Rods: One Piece Or Two Piece

I fish with a 7 piece rod and it does as well as other rods I have in the same class. I mostly fish a 1-piece simply for the fact that I never have to pack them and I won’t have to worry about the tip flying off after a cast. BUT, if packing size plays any part in the decision, I don’t hesitate to take a multi-piece rod. While I have a little more faith in the 1 piece rods, the 2 piece have never let me down. I’ve caught cats up to 50lbs on 2 piece rods without a problem.

Then, simply connect your rod sections with your guides at a 45 degree angle to the reel and twist to get the guides to line up with the reel. It might seem intuitive to just stick the pieces straight together with the guides lined up with the reel. You will want to twist it into place instead, in order to get a good friction lock. Spigot ferrules – This type of joint consists of a separate piece of material that is used to mate the two rod pieces together. There is a sort of tube that is permanently affixed inside one of the rod pieces.

One Piece Rod Made Into A 2 Piece

Both the one piece and the two piece FLGR’s require a tool to field strip the pistol . We sell ALOT of century rods, they are 2pc, work great and guys love them. I just figured some of you guys would now need to take the time to find your Manhood. Let’s see money couldn’t get you to bet, now free bet couldn’t get you to bet. No confidence in yourselves and your candidate.

I’ve had both and broken a lot more 1 piece rods than 2 piece rods. I weighed this same decision two months ago, and the previous responses pretty well laid out the pros and cons. I think the answer boils down to how you transport your rod to and from the fishing grounds.

Piece Rod Or One Piece ?

Apart from match/trotting rods all my rods are two piece apart from a Greys 3-pice 1.75 that I bought some years ago to leave in the car with a small tackle bag for ‘chance’ fishing. The gap between the better quality multi section and two piece rods seems to be closing these days but given the choice I’d always go for the two section leaving the others solely as travel rods. Most of the best fly rods these days are in 4 pieces, and I defy anyone who can tell the difference between a top quality 4 piece fly rod and a 2 piece. I mainly toss bait with them so I don’t cast repeatedly. I started plugging with a 2 piece rod and it was aggravating.

However when it showed up it was a two piece rod. Funny, but on the Ed Brown page, I don’t see mention of what guide rod set up is standard on the Executive Carry. MY Kimber Eclipse and Wilson Classic with one piece GR. One, I am talking Ed Brown; two, when I search guide rod , I get about a zillion hits.

Its difficult to comment on action and feel of rods as we all have our preferences. If the rod is going to be over 8 feet then I want it to be 2 piece. I just get clumsy transporting things and I could see myself breaking an 11 ft rod coming in and out of my home. The glass to glass ferules on modern surf, rock and beach rods are a vast improvement over the metal ferules of last century. The solid end is on the tip section on the left and the hollow end of the join is on the right. Or 3 Piece Fishing Rods

For me, the fewer the sections the better, multiple section, or telescopic rods are great for travel, no question, but for normal fishing I would find the multiple sections too much of a nuisance. Drennan are now making rods in two pieces with a detachable handle which screws together in the cork section. A nice innovation as the rods action feels excellent. The 2 pc rods are really really nice, we still do a lot of 1 pc rods, there are some lamis that the guys “just have to have”..just sold one Friday.. I read in another fishing mag that with the new technology rods, even up to 4 and 6 piece don’t lose enough to be tangable except in the ultra light weights. So unless you’re fishing for brookies with an 8 weight extra “sensitivity” is a waste.

Piece Vs 2 Piece Fishing Rods

The only rod I have ever had break was a one piece one. Of course I have never caught a big fish but would not worry about it breaking. IMHO the standard GI guide rod is the option to go with. Some will say that a “one piece/two piece FLGR” helps with the recoil spring from any possible binding. For me it is easier on field stripping with the GI guide rod, Had a two piece on a Springer and a one piece on a Kimber, after several cleanings….out they went. What you may want to do upon ordering is request a one piece FLGR and have them provide a GI guide rod as well.

I like the two piece rods; you can break them down to fit in nearly any vehicle and makes walking through thick brush easier. I used an off brand two piece, medium/heavy action rod to catch the carp loaded in my profile. There are probably two types of beach fishing scenarios in South East Queensland.
