At 23’4″ long and 120″ high, it would probably require RoRo shipping. The trailer has a 36 gallon (~163L) fresh water tank and a 36 gallon grey water tank with its drain above the frame. This potentially gives it roughly a 5 day endurance with two people being careful. Additional water could also be carried in Jerry Cans in holders at the rear.
If you looked at the specs of this vehicle and noticed that there is no black tank, that wasn’t a typo! This unit uses a unique dry-flush system that empties the contents of the toilet into tightly sealed packages. It is important to ensure that you have enough packaging on hand for your entire trip, but otherwise, this feature is pretty awesome. Finding the right balance between comfort, storage space, and off-grid capability can be hard when you’re looking for an adventure-ready RV. But the new model from Imperial Outdoors promises to offer the best blend of everything! The XploreRV XR22 is hitting the market and it promises to be a great vehicle for rugged RV enthusiasts.

The roof of this RV is reinforced, so it’s safe to walk on when you want to access the roof tent. All the furniture is soft close with robust yachting type locking latches to keep gear secure and minimise breakages on the tracks and trails. It includes a 3 burner cooktop and oven with a vent air extractor overhead fitted with a light. A sink with mixer tap and a large 11cuft, 12V Fridge / Freezer with shelves deep enough to hold a 12 pack of coke length ways. This trailer is fully insulated for extreme cold weather in Wisconsin.

New 2023 Imperial Outdoors XploreRV X22
Obviously, it’s a newer model, so it might be hard to tell if there will be long-term issues at this point. According to the tests performed by Imperial Outdoors, this vehicle can withstand temperatures from -40 degrees F to 140 degrees F. So whether you’re in the freezing tundra or the scorching desert, this RV can keep you comfortable. This is a valuable trait for an off-grid living space because you may be out in nature for a long time. This newest model from Imperial Outdoors follows in the footsteps of their previous creations. Originally, their designs focused on the needs of active fishermen .
A penalty of the high quality construction appears to be weight. For towing with a 4WD this leaves a payload of just 24kgs, not much more than enough for your toothbrush and a change of underwear! Its size though that is the major factor for shipping.
thoughts on “Go Off-Grid In The XploreRV XR22 By Imperial Outdoors”
The XploreRV XR22 definitely lives up to this legacy and is a travel trailer that is designed for comfort in all seasons. This trailer is compact and light enough to be towed by a variety of vehicles, not just heavy-duty trucks. It can also double as a toy hauler if there is any bulky gear you’d like to bring along. Its in the overall construction that this camper shines and the industry could perhaps learn something from this manufacturer. This ‘Off-Road Camper’ is constructed around a reinforced coated steel frame. Thick fully insulated high density foam and hung fibre glass walls with a thermal insulation rating of 13 stand on an insulated floor with an R value of 11.
As such, this brand has become known for making well-insulated vehicles that are perfect for outdoorsmen. The top of the trailer is robust and weight bearing. There is plenty of room for the 2 x 100W solar panels and a fully insulated Roof top tent. The above trailer has not been physically towed or sighted by Tip Toe.

So far, the XploreRV XR22 has been extremely well received by customers and critics alike. Analyzers have remarked on the professional build and the level of quality that this rig offers.
It appears there is a team here striving for excellence; the trailer is well constructed and they do not appear to have taken any sloppy short cuts. The trailer frankly is a ‘bit of a box’ but a pointed nose must help the aerodynamics. A fully articulated tow hitch connects the trailer to the towing vehicle. If you are looking for the ultimate overlanding/do anything RV then give me a call. The Xplore XR22 is one of the best RV’s built today with incredible insulation for any hot/cold conditions. Dual full size spare tires mounted to rear swing-away carriers.

It’s relatively small and light, so you can use a variety of vehicles to tow it. But it also offers storage space and a rear ramp that can be used to load and unload bulky items. Campers can also choose to add a rooftop tent attachment, which will add even more sleeping space and let you reserve the rest of the RV for storage or relaxation. A rear camera and working lights stand above the full size rear ramp that can be fully lowered to allow ‘toys’ to be driven inside.
12V tank heating pads and tank air warming is provided to avoid freezing tanks and pipes in extreme cold. Finally, this travel trailer comes with several package options for users to add upon purchase. Of course, the standard base model is already great, but it’s good to know what else it can offer.

To go off grid you must reimagine your vehicle in its two most important areas. 60 gallons would be below expectations but bearable. I would say at least 75 gallons considering your tank is used for potable, shower, sink…everything. You need four lithium batteries and double the roof solar panel capability or at least a 2,000 watt power generator. Another nice feature of the XploreRV XR22 is that its design doubles as a travel trailer and a toy hauler.
