I’ve always liked that style of knife, but don’t own one. The LT Wright northern hunter series looks pretty appealing to me. The steel is pretty good and they are hard knives to beat for $15 USD. I purchased one to see if I wanted to pursue a custom made copy. The Cold Steel knife with its plastic handle is the lowest quality knife I own. It is still in its original box, new and unused. I have one of the “Roach Belly” French trade style knives from that series . The steel in it is about as good as any other inexpensive stainless.

Anyway, they’ve disassembled a few deer at our game pole and the shape does indeed work fine. The little one is my favorite, but then I really like my Bark River Mikro too, so that tells you something about the size of blade I like. I find it a useful shape, though I’m not sure I find it markedly better than a regular drop point with “just the right” belly on the blade. The Cold Steel version would be a good way to try out the design w/o spending a gob of cash. I have two moras. They are an incredible knife for the money.
The blade did retain some scaring and usage marks upon being cleaned back up. But, i’m a fan of this look. All of my commonly used knives bear some scars and I expect to put plenty more on this knife in the years to come.

It probably isn’t a bad knife for the money. I don’t like the deceptive advertising of it. They proudly boast German steel but don’t tell you it is made in China. The Mora is a couple of dollars cheaper and made in Sweden. The Finn Hawk performed perfectly and blew my expectations out of the water.
