Once a hydraulic component fails, you’re done. Its no a loud or hard grind, just enough to rattle the pedel, and you can feel it in your foot… If it’s not engaging try looking into the transfer case if there is fluid. Thanks…My truck was built in February 2019 so you’d think they would have made these updates during production. I also do not have any dashboard codes illuminated.
This includes the transmission cooler lines running forward to the radiator. If a leak if difficult to find, a fluorescent dye can be added. Light is shined on the leak, the dyed fluid will glow. Transmissions contain many moving parts that move fluid throughout the system. Gears are selected and released by servos and solenoids to select your desired gear ratio. Like the engine, transmissions require periodic maintenance for trouble-free operation.

Put in Drive and truck doesn’t move
I checked the fluid, and it looked fine. Nothing is worse than sitting in a vehicle that’s stuck in park. The engine is running fine, but the shifter just won’t move. There are several things you can try to get your Dodge Ram moving now. These include checking to see if the parking brake is stuck, finding the shift lock solenoid override , and the shift linkage. I had a 75 Chebby K10 years ago, when the throwout bearing went bad it never made a sound, until it locked up.
Good luck and keep us posted with what you find. FWIW-I had a Ford 1 ton lock up on me going across a causeway with no where to pull over for almost a mile. It was on fire by the time I got pulled over. Fortunately, there was lots of water to be had. Turned out being a broken brake caliper that collapsed somehow and locked up a front wheel. Had the issue also, driving down the freeway, hit a pot hole, and the engine just reved up like it was in neutral.

My 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 will start up and run but when shifting into drive every gear feels like the truck is in neutral. I was driving the truck and the gears seemed to go out with no hard shifting … I drove it this morning without any issue. A few hours later I get in, start it up just fine, shifted into reverse just fine, then nothing.
They can provide valuable insight as to what the problem may be, and really help you narrow down the problem. The magnet has a lot of metallic on it- looks like it has hair. Much more than you’d typically find on a service. Pretty sure we’ve got mechanical damage. I need a little input on whether or not there is a real repair for this problem… About 5 out of 10 times i put this truck in Drive, it does NOTHING.

RamchargerCentral.Com is a Dodge truck community built by a vast number of experienced owners. Whatever you’re thinking about doing from routine maintenance to full-on restoration, odds are somebody around here already has. Originally focused on the Ram Charger / Trail Duster, our members own, drive and wrench on Mopars from the 40s to the current day. It’s not what you buy, it’s what you build. I’ve had it happen a couple of times, usually after pulling or tugging on something heavy or horsing on the truck off road for a day.
Good luck working through the diagnosis. If there is anything that you would like to add, please feel free to leave a comment below. Then re-insert, start truck and test your gears..
Clean the filter
So cycling between drive and reverse is hit or miss on if it moves. The truck will also roll in neutral now. Rear band is only applied in manual 1st and reverse.
Id be talken to the shop that did the the O.H. Its fairly commem to have this happen after an overhaul it they didnt see the small cracks that form in th gears at higher mileage. Ive always replaced the pump gears on diesels. The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500.
Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500
If so, you are experiencing some of the most commonDodge Ram transmission problems. Does it make any noise when in gear? A buzzing noise will occur if the filter gets clogged.
They are usually found on the driver’s side of the transmission with a bolt or plug threaded in place. As a general rule, pressure in reverse is usually the highest. A stall test checks the operation of the torque converter and engine. With the engine at wide open throttle, place the transmission in gear and fully apply the brakes. If you are positive that the gear shifter is not stuck in park , then it’s likely that the shift linkage may be bad.

Gather any information you can during your drive in regard to noises, harsh shifting, and areas of vibration. Always check your Ram for active and pending trouble codes. These usually save time by isolating the problem to a specific area.
It just means you should be aware of any possible issue you might run into; in the future. It’s tough to tell what could be causing a shifting problem on the truck. So, it’s hard to estimate how much money you will have to spend to fix it.
Bad Shift Linkage
Engines codes can affect the transmissions operation, so be sure to record them as well. The shift linkage on your Ram will usually provide a lifetime of dependable service. Apply light pressure to the shifter. You don’t want to break the shift linkage. Press the brake down when you have rocked toward the hill a bit.
wont move in any gear.4×4 dodge hemi 15002005
It does it at traffice light any time when u r starting from a stop. I just bought the truck and the people befor me said they were haveing the same issue. I have been researching the TIPM and one of the issues was transmission acting like it was in neutral even while driving in some cases. Only asked about your AC because it is usually the first thing to go then eventually people say the tranny problem. Something else to check out before you start pullin the tranny.
