Immensely historic building, the Indian Castle Church is the oldest Indian missionary church in New York State. After a visit inside the church be sure and take a stroll though the ancient graveyard in the rear of the property. Among the buried here are Mohawk Indians and early European settlers. The church is also the only surviving Iroquois building erected in the mid-1700s. A wonderful interactive, hands-on museum experience in one of Upstate New York’s most beautiful natural settings. The museum stretches over 121 acres and includes 23 different buildings.
The museum contains nearly 400 historic artifacts from a typical 19th century Long Island family. Museum tells the story of this Western New York community and the surrounding area. It is housed in the former Buck Tavern which was built in 1828 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
