Though the park hosted a similar event last year, Welch said the big turnout in June helped push this weekend’s festivities over the top. After hosting a summer kickoff Slip ’n’ Soar event in June, UOP Marketing Manager Melanie Welch said this weekend’s event will be a good way to bookend the summer season. But, before the hot weather goes away for the rest of the year, the Utah Olympic Park will host another of its popular Slip ’n’ Soar events on Saturday, Aug. 20. After the Salt Lake City Olympics, Utah put the old ski jumps to use, turning a few of them into “Slip ‘N Soars.” It looks amazing.

The three-day event, being held Friday through Sunday at Ohio Dreams, 3495 Tugend Road, includes camping, live bands, DJ and use of the giant slide. I’m in a real bind because the friends are coming in from out of town, and now I can’t even attend the event that I suggested to them.

Slip n’ Soar will feature three water slide ramps—the “mini ramp”, a beginner level slide for the more timid, and two “single ramps,” a more advanced slide for the adventurous set. Participants were able to slide down one of three newly-renovated ski ramps — adapted for a slip ‘n slide — into the 1 million gallon pool below. Alta and Snowbird will also limit the number of skiers at the resort based on parking availability .
