Well now I am happy that I got your answers so fast. Well since I am from Bulgaria, I have a certain budget, so I think I’ll buy the powersystem sport plus, which includes 2 in 1 – regulator and distribution system. I also hope that the voltage will not drop when using these 22 AWG wires on board. Also, I’ll make a building thread, so I could get some useful suggestions.

Power for the receiver is brought straight from the battery connector to a filter and regulator that supplies clean 5.0V power to the receiver. The servo regulator is adjustable from 5.5V to 6.5V and is connected by a large power bus to the servo output connectors resulting in no voltage drop due to wiring or connector resistance. The PowerSystem Competition 12 comes in two flavors, standard and Turbo. The standard version is designed for 85cc to 140cc size planes and the regulator can supply 7.5 amps of continuous current with 15 amp peaks. The Turbo version is meant for 150cc and larger size planes and the regulator can supply 17.5 amps of continuous current with 35 amp peaks. The unit also includes our Ignition Cutoff as a built-in feature.

Leads & Extensions

The Smart-Fly PowerSystem Sport Plus is an all-in-one unit for 40cc-85cc gas engine aircraft using lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery packs. The unit will also work with receivers with less than 12 channels. The unit will boost the servo control voltage to 5.0V for better compatibility with a variety of servos. The unit uses Deans Ultra Plug connectors for power and accepts power from two 2-cell Li-ion or Li-poly batteries. The unit has a built in BatShare to protect against one bad battery affecting the other battery.

I guess i could get a turbo reg, im using 900mm extension leads, the advantage of the power system is there is no power loss down the extensions. You reckin id notice a diffence plugging in direct to the AR9000? The Smart-Fly PowerExpander Sport Plus has full RF filtering of all signals coming into and out of it. That really is all there is to connecting the receiver and servos to the Smart-Fly PowerExpander Sport Plus. The Smart-Fly PowerExpander Sport Plus also filters and regulates battery power down to 5.0V to provide clean, consistent power to the receiver. This receiver voltage is independent of the full battery voltage that the Smart-Fly PowerExpander Sport Plus sends to the servos. The Smart-Fly PowerExpander Sport Plus uses standard RC plugs from the switches to deliver battery power to the unit.

PowerSafe receivers are not recommended for use with any of our systems. These types of receivers were never designed to be used with any power management units. We are compatible with all other JR and Spektrum recievers. Personally I would not put those servos in a gas airplane…. They are fine servos, just not enough for this application…

But with a LiFe you don’t have as much torque/power at the servo. So what suggestions might you have on receiver and ignition batteries. Okay cant decide on regulator system, ive got to choose between the Power box Gemini and the smart fly Turbo Reg.

I will be running 2 lipos and I’m wondering if I need to charge from both sides of the system or if I can charge from just one side.

I remember my GP Yak-54 was flying well with them. I don’t have much experience, I haven’t seen it flying with other servos, but what can we do now… You get the advantage of the Optical Ign Cut-off, Deans ultra connecters for power in, and interference protection for not much more in one compact unit. My batteries aren’t accesible without removing both wings on my Pitts Python so a quick charge between flights would be nice. I want your opinion about the way the plane will handle with 3305’s. I am pretty new to 3D flying but this is my final target, so I’d like to become good 3D Flyer.

Then run the cable near the front of your motor box. Somewhere up there mount the small ignition kill unit. Again plug the optic cable into that the same way. On the small ignition unit you will see ports to plug into.

If noise is an issue for the reciever all that noise cancelling stuff would be built in, if it already isn’t. 2 batteries, 2 switches, 2 power inputs into the reciever and fly. I know people that are using this setup for yrs on 35% and 40% planes no issues.

I have such one, which came with my previous 8 AMP regulator. It is a standard one, which I think will be ok for 50cc. For this application the servo matching isn’t needed. Also it comes with the optic kill which I recommend on any gas plane for safety to you and others at/near the field. 90% of lost airplanes are done in due to bad wiring setups, servo extensions flopping around inside the plane etc etc.

One will go to the battery and one goes to the ignition and one goes to an optional red LED. I run my battery into a charge switch and then the switch to the battery connection on the Power Expander. This enables me to use the switch to turn the planes ignition off, charge the battery from the switch and use the ignition kill to turn the motor off.
