Billi is appalled when she learns that Nai Nai’s medical diagnosis has been kept a secret from her, and that the family has created the charade of a wedding to unite everyone with Nai Nai for one last time. Though Billi fights with multiple family members and even Nai Nai’s physician over the lie, she doesn’t reveal the truth. In the end, Billi must come to terms with both her Chinese and American identities.
