Here’s everything you need to know about Exped Synmat Basic 7.5 M Review. Find all the information it in this article.

If you choose a 20″ pad it’s a but easier as weight is not so much of a deterrent. Looking for a new mat for goat hunting I was all set to buy the Therm a Rest NeoAir Xtherm but we went to a store today and they showed us the Xped DownMat7. I want something comfortable, warm and tough the NeoAir is lighter and more compact but the DownMat isn’t overly heavy or bulky and has some nice features. Let’s be clear, if you’re planning on going snow camping, there are thicker better-insulated mats you could buy (Exped’s own DownMat models are excellent). But the UL 7 is still rated down to minus 4 degrees celsius, which is more than enough for most conditions that you’ll encounter in the UK. And the UL 7 scores much higher in terms of weight and packability.

Estimated Delivery & Collection Dates are given on Pre-Order and Pre-Launch products. They are for indication purposes only and can change at any time without notice. The SynMat has an R-value of 4.9, making it plenty warm for winter use. None of our testers complained about being cold on this pad.

I’ve slept in the upper teens without too much chill, but that’s about as low as I’d go. Comfort-wise, I’ve never slept this well on the ground, and I cannot speak highly enough about it. Prices on the downmats are ‘down’right obscene….

A proprietary Exped lamination is completely airtight and impervious to degradation. Exped are so sure of their manufacturing quality that they give this mat a 5 year warranty on materials and workmanship. While the integrated pump was nice, we found it more difficult to fine tune the inflation level than other pads. Deflation, however, is as simple as pulling a tab that releases all the air.

I also LOVE the snozzle pumpsack and would get it even if you decide on the UL 7 Synmat. When you look at the cost of the Symat + pumpsack, it makes it an even harder decision since the Downmat comes with it. I would go with a Downmat UL for what your looking for. I have the old Downmat 9 DLX(heavy!) thats awesome for stuff like winter pulk trips and the Synmat UL for backpacking that I am also very happy with. I would expect the same great performance out of the UL downmat.

Exped Mini Pump

The integrated pump is used by sealing your hand over the valve and pressing down. Repeat the cycle for about 30 seconds to inflate the pad. We recently went on a 12 day trip to Oregon and California where we car camped for 8 of those nights. You can email bender and ask him how much a pad with Climashield insulation will cost . Plus you can get any length you want, don’t need 72 inches, get a 70 or 68 inch or whatever you want.

There’s a small repair kit with patches and glue inside the stuff sack should that ever be needed. When buying a car camping mats for the wife and me the ExPed was a little too much $$ and I got a really good deal on REI camp beds. When the kids outgrow their thin mats maybe I’ll pass mine down and spring for the ExPed. I’m going to go for the last one on your list since we hunt goats usually from September into November and the weather can be really nasty. I’m surprised that the Eped mats are so popular, glad I asked the question I would have bought the NeoAir had they had the one I liked in stock. Like Big W mentioned, Exped has the UL version of the DM7.

Therefore it is essential to have a good insulating mat to protect you from the cold ground. The welded I beam chambers are filled with 150 gm2 of Texpedloft microfibre to provide exceptional insulation down to -11 C. The insulation is laminated to the upper and lower sides of the mat to ensure optimum loft and insulation for the life of the mat. The face fabric has a soft next-to-the-skin feel and is also slip resistant.

I will use the Neoair for early season hunts though. I really do like it for the weight savings/compactness. Of rewards points to spend on your next purchase from us.

Exped Synmat Ultralite 7 Sleeping Mat

This great value for money and high performance mat from Exped utilises all the insulation and comfort properties of the original SynMat but in a trimmed down package offering outstanding value. I’m in the market for something to keep in the vehicle for sleeping at trail heads. This really is the mat for the explorer on the go.

Unfortunately, there is no way to let the air ease out – this valve is all or nothing. The Sea to Summit Ultralight and Sea to Summit Comfort Light have a similar valve to the SynMat but they both have a small release valve that you can use to fine-tune the inflation while you’re on the pad . Because of the valve’s shortcomings, we ended up over- or under-inflating the pad. The SynMat 7 is by far the heaviest pad we tested, weighing in at a whopping 30 ounces.

Exped Megamat 10 Lxw

I find the texture of the material on the DownMat to be more comfortable against the bare skin than on the SynMat UL which has kind of a plastic sticky feel. If I could have only one, It would definitely be the SynMat UL as it is half the weight for the same size and similar comfort. For very hot or cold weather, the much better R value of the DownMat makes it worth the extra wight.

Exped Synmat Basic 7 5 Sleeping Mat

Love my exped synmat; and this season I bought the Schnozzle, which is terrific and as already stated doubles as a pack liner. If I had it to do over again, I’d now buy the downmat, which wasn’t available when I bought the synmat last year. Just to have one pad to cover those nights that get to 35 and below. For a sleep system, I want the lightest gear that I can get and still have a great night’s sleep. I love sleeping outside under God’s blanket of stars and it is an important part of the total outdoor experience for me.

Gear Review Klymit Static V Sleeping Pad

I was surprised that the pad only weighted 16oz for you, that is a pleasant surprise. I don’t know if I would notice the difference between 16oz and 20oz but I guess every little bit of weight helps. I apparently sleep warmer than a lot of people and use the Downmat 7 UL for weight/bulk conscious trips down into the mid 20’s. It is truly an excellent pad when it comes to R-Value, comfort, weight and bulk. Perfect for when you need some comfort and every ounce counts. I step up to the regular 7 when temps get colder than that.

Keeping the pad stuffed will compress the synthetic insulation and reduce its ability to keep you warm. When packed, it takes up about four liters of space. This is pretty bulky and much larger than any other air construction pad. The self-inflating REI AirRail 1.5 packed down a little smaller than the SynMat . The SynMat has an inflate valve and deflate valve .

Exped Synmat Basic 7m Slaapmat

For general backpacking trips, our testers preferred higher scoring lightweight pads like the Q-Core SLX. Both of these pads are nearly as warm as the SynMat but weigh a lot less. That’s all thanks to their unique construction where lightweight synthetic fibres are laminated to the walls of the inside to protect you when you’re lying on cold ground. A proper cold-weather sleeping mat is essential if you want to go camping in winter. But of course you don’t want to be lugging some bulky lilo around either. Which is why something like the Exped Synmat UL 7 is ideal. The SynMat 7 is constructed with the most durable materials found in any inflatable sleeping pad we tested.

It is twice as heavy as the Editors’ Choice-winning XTherm. The integrated pump is novel but adds unnecessary weight. Though it isn’t the lightest pad around, it should be noted that it is best suited for winter anyway and is about the same weight as an average summer pad combined with a foam pad. This pad is ready for your next winter expedition. It was one of our favorites to sleep on and is quite warm. Had it been lighter weight and more packable, it would have been a top contender.
