There are far too many options on the market, many of which are low-quality knock-offs. A lot of folks on this forum recommend swapping out the XREAS system for standard shocks. Apparently nothing special is needed to do this. You just remove the old shocks and the hydraulic lines that connect them. Then put in any of the many aftermarket shocks that will fit your year 4Runner — just like you would on any other vehicle.
There are a lot of options for 4Runner and Tacoma rear shocks depending on rear spring choices. Bolt in fitment is the only option for 4runners. If you’re lifting the rear of the T4R maximize the travel by using aftermarket springs, longer shocks, and bump stop spacers.
Tacoma Rear:
